Independent food trucks can be the launch pad an entrepreneur needs to eventually open a restaurant. Here are four food trucks in and around Atlanta that are making the switch from food truck to full blown restaurant.

Timiya’s Kitchen
Timiya’s Kitchen is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar restaurant next month on M.L.K. Jr. Drive, building on the success of the Taste of Timiya Food Truck. Located at 2035 M.L.K. Jr Dr SW, Atlanta, GA 30310, the new spot will serve a variety of classic American comfort foods.
The menu will include homemade chili slaw dogs, shrimp, fish, pasta dishes, quesadillas, and fried wings. Additionally, the restaurant will introduce Soul Food Sunday, offering a full day of traditional soul food favorites.

Momma’s Cup of Rice
After three years of serving rice bowls from a food truck, Momma’s Cup of Rice is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar location in Fayetteville. Owner Marissa Kelly is expanding the concept, inspired by her grandmother’s recipes, with an expected opening this spring at 369 Fayette Pl, Fayetteville, GA 30214.
The restaurant will continue offering rice bowls topped with chicken, steak, shrimp, and various add-ons while introducing new menu items like egg rolls, rice balls, loaded fries, and an expanded selection of mocktails and desserts. The food truck will remain in operation alongside the restaurant.
The new location will be open at least four to five days a week, closing on Sundays and Mondays. Kelly’s mother, Terry McGrady, is a partner in the business.

On Da Spot BBQ
On Da Spot BBQ is making the leap from food truck to restaurant, with a new location opening soon in Grayson at the Railyard outdoor food court development at: 2132 Britt St #209, Grayson, GA 30017. Owner Tomika Joyce expects the restaurant to open within the next 60 days, expanding the menu while maintaining the flavors that made the food truck a hit.
The new space will introduce smoked and chopped brisket, homemade cream-style corn, and deviled eggs alongside barbecue staples. The food truck, which has been serving customers since 2022, will shift focus to catering and events. The restaurant will offer seating for 30 guests and operate Wednesday through Sunday.

Rick’s Raging Q
Rick’s Raging Q is set to open its first brick-and-mortar location in Stockbridge this April, evolving from a ghost kitchen to a food truck and now a full takeout-focused eatery. The restaurant, located at 747 Davis Rd Suite 600, Stockbridge, GA 30281, will continue serving barbecue favorites while introducing daily and weekly specials, including Soul Food Sundays.
Owned by Richard Mercer, the new location will cater primarily to pick-up customers and offer catering services for events. The transition allows for a permanent space while maintaining the convenience of quick service.
