Coastal Vegan Grill is preparing to open in mid-May in Cape Canaveral, bringing a bold and flavorful take on plant-based comfort food. Owner and restaurateur Sondra Zahn shared with Business Debut that the new restaurant will take over the former Pure Aloha Surf Shop at 7010 N Atlantic Ave, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920.

This marks Zahn’s third restaurant. She previously operated The Loopy Leaf in Charleston, West Virginia, and opened Kelley Farm Kitchen in Harpers Ferry, which was ranked #1 on Yelp in the U.S. in 2020.

The Cape Canaveral restaurant will serve what Zahn calls “fat kid vegan food,” with a menu of over 100 items including big ramen bowls, sandwiches, hoagies, and all-day breakfast. A deli case inspired by New York bodegas will feature sides and grab-and-go items. Guests can also enjoy beer, wine, and kombucha on tap.

Inside, the restaurant will have about 12 seats, with a dog-friendly back patio offering 30 more under umbrellas surrounded by plants. Zahn also plans to grow produce on-site to supply the kitchen.

The menu will be allergy-conscious with a large selection of gluten-free options. The entire restaurant will be nut-free (except coconut). Expect a bright, fun environment with a laid-back, reggae-inspired vibe on the back patio area.
