MoMo Bros Gourmet is opening near Clark Atlanta’s campus on MLK Jr. Drive, owner Ethan Drakes shared with Business Debut. The new eatery follows Drakes’ successful food truck, MoMo Bros Bodega, which serves bodega-style classics such as chopped cheese, oxtail mac and cheese, vegan mac and cheese, and more.

Located at 806 M.L.K. Jr Dr SW, Atlanta, GA 30314, the brick-and-mortar location will bring a slice of Brooklyn’s bodega culture to Atlanta’s West End, which Drakes describes as an emerging Brooklyn-esque community. The name "MoMo Bros" stems from Drakes’ time at Morehouse and his brother, Aaron Drakes, who attends Morris Brown. Their father, Edwin Drakes, will also be part of the business.

MoMo Bros Gourmet will offer a mix of hearty comfort food and healthier options. In addition to signature dishes from the truck, guests can expect cold-cut sandwiches, salads, and specialty coffee drinks from their espresso machine. Drakes emphasized his goal of creating an affordable dining space for students in the area, especially after hours when many other businesses are closed.

Drakes’ culinary roots extend to his mother, who owns Brooklyn Beso, a Latin-Caribbean fusion restaurant in Brooklyn. His first food business, The Dubois Deli, began with him selling sandwiches from his dorm at Dubois Hall.

The MoMo Bros Bodega food truck will continue operating even after the brick-and-mortar location opens, with a focus on serving Morehouse’s campus and beyond.
