Orlando’s food scene is heating up, with several exciting new restaurants and cafés set to open soon. From Philly cheesesteaks to handcrafted pastries, build-your-own pasta, and New York-style halal eats, there’s a lot to look forward to.
January 2025
Here's what we reported on in January of this year. Opening dates for each concept vary.
Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks – 45 W Crystal Lake St, Orlando, FL 32806 & 441 E Mitchell Hammock Rd, Oviedo, FL 32765
A well-known name in Atlanta, Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks is expanding into Central Florida with plans for 10 locations. The first two, located in South Downtown Orlando and Oviedo, are set to open between late Q1 and early Q2. Franchisee Derek Lewis, a former PepsiCo executive, is leading the charge, bringing authentic Philly cheesesteaks to new markets.
Croissant Gourmet – 900 N Orange Ave, Orlando, FL 32801
Croissant Gourmet is adding a new location in Winter Park, expected to open in just a few weeks. Known for its handmade pastries and baked goods, this café will also serve expanded menu options, including salads, sandwiches, and charcuterie with beer and wine. Plus, with evening hours, it’s set to be a great spot for both morning coffee runs and relaxed nights out.
Spoleto Italian Kitchen – 21 S Main St, Winter Garden, FL 34787
Fans of customizable pasta dishes will be happy to hear that Spoleto Italian Kitchen is opening in Winter Garden. This fast-casual Brazilian franchise allows guests to build their own Italian dishes, paired with beer or wine. While originally aiming for a January opening, construction delays have pushed it to mid-February. Franchisee Ross Maldonado plans to continue expanding the brand’s Florida presence, with a goal of opening a new location every other year.
Boba N Chill – 12455 S Orange Blossom Trl, Orlando, FL 32837
For boba lovers, Boba N Chill is preparing to open in Orlando by mid-to-late February. This café will serve boba tea, coffee, dumplings, and to-go snacks, making it a convenient stop for a quick treat. With construction completed and staff hired, they’re just waiting on final approvals before welcoming customers.
Naz’s Halal – 2435 S Orange Ave, Orlando, FL 32806
Bringing New York-style halal food to Orlando, Naz’s Halal is set to open early to mid-next month. The menu will feature favorites like chicken and lamb over rice, Philly cheesesteaks, and chopped cheese sandwiches. The brand, which started as a food truck in Queens, NY, has grown rapidly and is on track to hit 60 locations by the end of 2025. Orlando’s first location is just the beginning, with more expected to open between Tampa and Orlando.

Joe’s Holy Smoke BBQ – 1515 Lee Rd, Orlando, FL 32810
Barbecue lovers, get ready—Joe’s Holy Smoke BBQ is making a comeback with a grand reopening on February 22nd. Taking over the former Cupid’s Hot Dogs space, the menu is packed with ribs, chicken, pulled pork, smoked beef Philly cheesesteaks, mac and cheese, and rice bowls. Their signature Million Dollar Rib and Overloaded Mad Potato will also be on the menu, with a variety of sauces to choose from.
Playa Bowls – 7512 Dr Phillips Blvd Unit 60, Orlando, FL 32819
Bringing its first location to Orlando, Playa Bowls is set to open on March 2nd in Dr. Phillips. Known for its acai, pitaya, and coconut bowls, the shop will feature beachy vibes, custom artwork, and casual bar seating. Franchisee Ricardo Arguello is excited to introduce the brand’s fresh, healthy offerings to Central Florida.
Blend & Bite – 8289 Champions Gate Blvd, Davenport, FL 33896
Over in Davenport, Blend & Bite is gearing up for its grand opening at the beginning of next month. This gourmet café and juice shop will serve specialty coffees, teas, fresh juices, and scratch-made paninis—perfect for a quick bite or a leisurely coffee break. Final inspections are underway, and an opening date will be announced soon.
Tacos Don Andres – 2179 Celebration Blvd, Kissimmee, FL 34747
A modern, Tulum-inspired Mexican dining experience is headed to Celebration, as Tacos Don Andres prepares to open. Featuring authentic Mexican dishes, a full bar, and a spacious outdoor patio, the restaurant will seat 70 guests inside and 132 outside. With a tagline of "Authentic Mexican food with culinary excellence," this spot is set to be a must-visit for flavorful, high-quality cuisine.
Abracadabra Play and Café – 5736 Hamlin Groves Tr, Winter Garden, FL 34787
For families looking for a kid-friendly café experience, Abracadabra Play and Café is opening soon in Winter Garden. Expected to debut by the end of April or May, this indoor playground and café is designed for children ages 0-7, with older kids welcome. Parents can relax with coffee, espresso, hot chocolate, and Brazilian snacks, while little ones enjoy a safe play area. Birthday party packages and event rentals will also be available.
With so many exciting openings, Orlando’s dining and café scene is only getting better. Whether you’re craving barbecue, fresh smoothie bowls, Mexican food, or a cozy coffee spot, there’s plenty to look forward to in the coming months!
